It’s time to accept that the Ravens aren’t that good this year

When your running back matches a team-high seven receptions and his 39 yards are second on the team, there is a major problem with the offense.

What more is their to say? It is simply time to accept the Ravens are not very good and are going to struggle to win games. If any game seemed like a sure win it was a game against a San Francisco 49ers team that appeared to be imploding before our eyes. But the Ravens lost and lost badly. The game was not even as close as the 25-20 final score said it was.

Midway through the third quarter, the Ravens were down 19-6 and while they had a chance to take a lead a little while later after forcing a three and out, they went only 29 yards over eight plays. While a turf issue led to a missed field goal, they had to settle for a field goal after not being able to move the ball.

The offense had no explosiveness. Justin Forsett tied a team-high with seven receptions and only had 39 yards receiving, which actually was second behind Steve Smith. Flacco had to check down way too much while Marlon Brown and Kamar Aiken provided nothing.

Defensively, former Ravens Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith ripped through their secondary as Colin Kaepernick threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns. He did this without much of a running game for the defense to worry about either as Carlos Hyde was battling an ankle injury that was hurting him so bad he went down on his own after planting at one point.

The mystery of the season is not that the Ravens are bad; it was been clear why they are. They mystery is how anybody before the season thought they had the best roster in the NFL. Tedy Bruschi notably made that claim on ESPN. That just looks silly now.
